Book Review: Daddy's Sweet Bunny by Bubble Tea

Image
Published: September 30, 2023 This was such a wholesome and healthy take on kink. While littles aren’t my thing personally, I loved to see the dynamic between Daddy and Bunny. There was much more give and take and equality than typically portrayed in D/s novels. And while there were fun and games and steamy scenes, it was about the dynamics of the people. About being stronger together and one person being there when the other person is broke down or stuck. It was actually a lot sweeter than I expected it to be and I ended up cheering Bunny on at more than one point because she’s kind of awesome. Definitely an enjoyable quick read. 4/5⭐

Book Review: Hex Education by Maureen Kilmer

Image
Publication Date: September 19, 2023 Suburban housewife turned realtor, Sarah uses a bit of extra help to get things done and maintain her nearly perfect life. But college secrets are put at risk and magic goes out of control when she and her three college friends meet once again on their college campus, the same one that had a tragic fire their freshman year. Now Sarah has magic going overboard, a talking cat named Katy Purry (who frankly was the best part of the book), and secrets trying to come out. It was a cute, cozy mystery but I honestly didn't feel the risk or particularly care what happened to any of the characters. If you're looking for a low-stakes, comfy read you'll probably really enjoy it but personally, it wasn't for me.

Book Review: Off the Charts Chemistry by Christine Miles

Image
Publication Date: September 26, 2023 A title that promises off-the-charts chemistry can be hard to live up to but this one succeeded. From the very first moment they meet these characters have nothing but chemistry. Lots of innuendo, flirty banter, and laughter keep this story moving forward making it a fun, quick and easy read. While Stacey and Reese have both been burned by love, their instant attraction and rapidly developing affection was enjoyable to experience while avoiding falling into unbelievably quick insta-love. This is a great low-stakes read with no third-act breakup and lots of sweet moments.

Book Review: The Cutting Edge by Lisa Daily

Image
Release Date: June 22, 2023 An Olympic figure skater gets brained by a stray puck shot by the captain of the professional hockey team at the facility they both train at sounds like the set up for a great book. And it was. Sadly, the book couldn’t sustain the amazing start it had and the second half went downhill. The first half was amazing. Logan’s over the top simping for Coco was a thousand kinds of adorable. As was his relationship with his daughter. The writing was well-paced and the insta-connection between the main characters was golden. I liked the dual POV, the voice was great, I was loving it. And then her medical diagnosis changes (I have a million thoughts on how this was handled) and everything goes downhill, both for Coco and in the book. A lot of things happened just for convenience to the plot (no one stays in the hospital for a week for a concussion, especially when they have people at home to support them) and didn’t necessarily make sense within the story or were clea...

Book Review: Daddy of the Sea by Jillian Graves

Image
Publication Date: September 26, 2023 I may (definitely did) or may not have screamed NO when I realized that I had reached the end of this story. I am so invested in these characters in such a little time and did not want to let them go. Daddy doms aren’t usually my thing but the way Jillian writes them is so fantastic it blows every objection I have to them out of the water (see what I did there?). This one is short and spicy. Kalder is all about fulfilling Carina’s fantasies in a subtle way that’s unbelievably hot. Always glad to add another Jillian Graves to my digital bookshelf.  **Daddy of the Seas is part of Monsters In Love Anthology Volume 4: Lost in the Deep

Book Review: Kiss and Spell by Celestine Martin

Image
Release Date: September 26, 2023 Kiss and Spell is an enchanting, whimsical story set in a magical small town on the east coast where mythical creatures roam wild and you’re just as likely to find a troll as a human. Ursula is native to Freya’s Grove where her family roots run deep. After a breakdown following her humiliating failed wedding, Ursula finds herself working at the family magic shop reading the future for customers. Ironic since she never saw her Happy Ending wedding ending in tatters. But Happily Ever Afters are for fairy tales and Ursula is done believing in them. Of course, that means she immediately finds herself in the presence of a fae prince who is on the hunt for his perfect kiss. Xavier has been kicked out of the fae realm until he finds his perfect kiss and can break the curse placed on him by the faery queen. The problem being that Xavier doesn’t believe there is such a thing as a perfect kiss or true love. Ursula and Xavier team up to help Xavier to find h...

Book Review: Shattered Truths by Helena Hunting

Image
Publication Date: August 29, 2023 Helena Hunting has a way of ripping your heart out of your chest and making you thank her for the privilege. Shattered Truths was no different. And while I didn’t find it quite as emotionally devastating as the first two books in the series, I will admit to shedding a few tears. BJ, son of the most beloved couples in her original Pucked series, is a bearded man-bunned, man-whore figure skater. Winter is a foul mouth hockey player, who's too busy taking care of everyone else to take care of herself. The relationship pairing closely mirrored BJ’s parents origin story. Rich and famous athlete and an aspiring athlete being kept from her dreams due to financial constraints. I found the fact that she so closely mirrored that but gender-swapped the sports interesting. Both BJ’s mom and Winter are strong and used to caring for themselves and everyone else. And when you’re the one caring for everyone, it’s easy to forget to take care of yourself too. In a...
